Patrick has been writing for over twenty years, he is also an award-winning photographer and artist.

Patrick Witz has been characterized as lot of things… child, brother, husband, father, grandfather, writer, photographer, artist, childcare owner, oddball teacher, a nice guy, and at times by his in-laws a few unprintable Italian expletives. Twenty-five years ago, Patrick and his young family escaped a crowded megalopolis of Southern California and risked everything to settle in the wilderness of the Sierra Gold Country. The brave family embraced their new lifestyle amongst the night’s bazillion stars, stunning forests, snow melt filled lakes and gorgeous scenery. Their exodus from the concrete jungle introduced them to new consternations… five-hundred foot wells, septic systems, forbidden dank mineshafts, ink black moonless nights teaming with wild critters, large carnivores and hordes of blood sucking insects. It was adventurous… but the Witz’s could not be happier.

Mr. Witz’s nonfiction writing has spanned many years with close to two-hundred articles and photos published in several local newspapers and digital/print magazines. His nonfiction focus was travel, food, childcare, medical, fire prevention, child safety, water issues, and theatric reviews. He also wrote for and then became editor and publisher of an online family oriented Gold Country event and travel E-magazine. Since his move to Northern California, Patrick’s family and friends have come to expect his annual creative and entertaining family holiday newsletters.

Those whimsical family newsletters bridged neatly into Mr. Witz’s fictional writing. Patrick’s stories are unlike many writers and authors that have found comfort in one particular genre. His eclectic nature leads him into a labyrinth of fictional paths, varied narrative points-of-view, and remarkable blending of genres. Patrick’s characters visually come to life in a reader’s mind. There is not one, but many curious characters in his recent stories. Those characters range from caring family members, cautious adventurers, relatable quirky aliens, rotting zombies, to psychopath killers. Patrick vividly composes unique settings, emotional plots, and sudden story-line twists. He is quick to point out that variety is the spice of his writing… sometimes sweet, at times bitter, on occasion peculiar, and every now and again it packs an emotional punch!

It is with great hope that you will appreciate and enjoy reading Patrick Witz’s cocktail of short fiction:

  • Mix well a flavorful blend of humanity, nature, space and time,
  • Add generous amounts of imagination and creativity,
  • Then serve it at times with a surprisingly tangy twist.
